Dutch duo the Bingo Players (Paul Bäumer & Maarten Hoogstraten) have been big news ever since their 2008 remix of “Our House”. Since then the bingo sound can be found in the bags of just about every big name DJ.
2011 hasn’t been going that long and they seem to have crammed so much in already, every week sees a new release / remix appearing on Beatport and coming off the back of a successful tour of Australia with Creamfields
comes what threatens to be their biggest tune to date.
Originally dating from 2004 “Cry (Just a little)” started out as a studio joke for the boys which they posted on the Laidback Luke forum under the pseudonym “Eve Stangello” titled “Davali” and the response was phenomenal.
Last year the track popped back into Paul’s head so he looked it up on youtube and was astonished that the song had over a million views. Deciding that they probably had something special on their hands the duo updated the production
and released the track via Beatport on 19th April and it’s been stuck in my head ever since.
This track promises to be the little ray of sunshine that gets you through the apporaching Aussie winter, just check out the reation it got when they dropped it at Creamfields a couple of weeks ago. Currently sitting at #2 in the Beatport chart whether it’s Ibiza or Ivanhoe there’s not going to be a club you can escape this track over the next few months, I’m predicting that Cry will be the song that introduces the Bingo Players to the mainstream audience.
